We partner with advertisers to bring you relevant content, and in return for your attention, we top up your data balance directly on your phone. It is a simple, free, and easy way to stay connected.

It is easy! First, you need to sign up for FreeData by downloading our app, or accessing our portal and entering your mobile number. Once you have accepted our Terms and Conditions, you can start watching ads from our partners. After you successfully watch a full ad, or series of ads depending on the offer, we automatically credit a mobile data bundle to your mobile phone.

FreeData is currently ONLY available to users on Safaricom in Kenya. You need to be an active Prepaid/Postpaid customer and have a data enabled phone with a browser to use the service.

The amount of data you earn can vary depending on the number of ads you watch. We will always clearly display the reward amount (e.g., 5 MB, 10 MB, 20 MB etc.) before you choose to watch an ad. The more ads you watch, the more data you can earn!

You will see a variety of video ads from local and international brands. These can include ads for new apps, consumer products, mobile services, and more. As much as we can, we work to show you ads that are relevant to your interests. You will get an opportunity from time to time to let us know what interests you.

Yes, to ensure fair access for all users and to manage our partnerships with advertisers, there is a daily limit on the number of ads you can watch and the amount of data you can earn. This can vary from one user to the next based on the interests shared with us. The service will notify you when you have reached your daily limit.

No, the data bundles you earn are credited directly to your mobile number and cannot be transferred or shared with other users or redeemed for cash.

Yes, your data bundles will have an expiration date, which can vary depending on the bundle size and your mobile network's policies. Your mobile network will always communicate the validity period when the data is credited to your account.

Your earned data bundles are added to your primary mobile data balance. You can check your balance using your network provider's standard method, such as dialling the self service USSD code or via your network's mobile app.

There could be a few reasons for this. Please check the following:

  • Did the ad(s) finish completely? You must watch the entire ad or ad series to receive the reward.
  • Is your internet connection stable? A poor connection may interrupt the ad, and our system might not register it as complete. Try moving to a better signal area.
  • Have you reached your daily limit? The service will notify you if you have earned the maximum amount for the day. You will have to wait for the next cycle to be able to earn data, though the service may still show you ads.
  • System delay: In rare cases, there might be a short delay (up to 5 minutes) for the data to be credited. If you still haven't received it after this time, please contact our support team.

If you close an ad before the timer runs out or the "Skip" button appears, you will not receive the data reward. You must watch the ad in its entirety for our system to register a successful completion.

If an ad freezes, please try refreshing the page or restarting the FreeData app. If the issue persists, your internet connection may be unstable. If you continue to have trouble, please use the "Contact Us" feature within the portal to let us know. Via the portal, we will automatically capture details pertinent to your interaction with us.

Via the portal and app, we only collect the necessary information to provide the FreeData service, which includes your mobile number and network provider. We do not share your personal information with advertisers. We use this to credit you with the correct rewards and to ensure the service is running smoothly. Your privacy is our top priority. No. FreeData is completely free to use. You will never be charged for watching ads or for the data you earn. The service is funded by our advertising partners who pay to show you their content.
